signed in intaglio "RAOUL LARCHE", marked and numbered "SIOT DECAUVILLE PARIS, J 343" on the bottom Loïe Fuller, a dancer who moved to Paris in the 1890s, captivated the fin-de-siècle audience with her fantastical and mysterious "Fire Dance," performing as a nymph dancing through raging flames. She was known for her voluminous, butterfly-like white silk costumes and unique dance expressions that utilized new lighting techniques. Fuller influenced not only modern dance but also the entire realm of art with her extraordinary talent and high production skills, becoming a darling of the era. Many artists of the time, including Toulouse-Lautrec and Gallé, created works featuring her as a model. Fuller was a gentle and elegant woman who dedicated her later years to humanitarian efforts with the Red Cross as a Sister. This piece is a bronze work by Lalique, renowned as his greatest masterpiece, inspired by her. The costume is designed to resemble flames overhead, with two lights shining within it.

Raoul Francois Larche (French, 1860-1912) The Fauns Patinated bronze 19" x 15" x 12" (including a low wooden plinth) Bears the mark of Siot-Decauville, the foundry with whom Larche was most strongly associated. Larche studied at Beaux Arts de Paris under Auguste Dumont, Jean-Leon Gerome, and Eugene Delaplanche. He exhibited at Paris's Salon des Artistes from 1884 until his death. A monumental version of The Fauns stands in the town square of Coubron, France, where Larche was laid to rest.

I fondatori Siot-Decauville fondevano molte delle sue statuette e oggetti d'arte e la fabbrica di Sèvres riproduceva anche le sue opere in porcellana. Eseguì grandi statue tra cui Giovanna d'Arco in marmo e realizzò un piccolo numero di sculture decorative per le facciate parigine, in particolare per il Grand Palais nel 1900. Artista rappresentativo dell'Art Nouveau, molto apprezzato per le figure femminili rese in maniera sinuosa ed elegante, particolarmente nota è quella raffigurante la ballerina americana Loïe Fuller.

François Raoul Larche (1860-1912) Au miroir Modèle créé vers 1892, édition Siot Decauville vers 1900 Sculpture en étain Signé " RAOUL LARCHE " sur la terrasse Porte le cachet du fondeur " SIOT DECAUVILLE FONDEURS PARIS " et le numéro " R925 " H. 45 cm En 1892, Raoul Larche présente au Salon le modèle en plâtre figurant deux satyres enfants observant leur reflet intitulé Au miroir. Une version en bronze surmonte le monument en hommage au sculpteur exécuté en 1914 à Coubron. L’édition du modèle est confiée au fondeur Siot-Decauville et est réalisée en bronze et en étain dans deux dimensions.
