b. 1949 -

Born in Paris in 1949, artist Linda Le Kinff is known for her dynamic portraits, featuring rich colors and abstract portraits. She began her painting career at age 20. She studied with artists around the world, including in Italy and Paris, and has worked in everything from wood engraving to acrylic painting to serigraph prints. In 1998, she was chosen as the official artist of the World Cup, and Le Kinff’s painting for the event was minted into a commemorative coin. The official merchandise and marketing for the 136th Kentucky Derby in 2010 featured Linda Le Kniff’s prints as well. Her work has been displayed in galleries throughout the world, including as part of an ongoing partnership with Park West Gallery in Michigan. Buy serigraph prints at Invaluable and bring your home to life with bold, dynamic artwork.

                Linda Le Kinff (B 1949) French/Italian, Serigraph

                Est: $200 - $400

Linda Le Kinff (B 1949) French/Italian, Serigraph. Signed lower right. Numbered 208/350 lower left. Depicts a woman relaxing at home with her cat in vibrant colors. Overall size: 34 X 37 in. sight size: 22 X 26 in. #1475 . Linda Le Kinff was born in Paris, France in 1949. She started her career as a painter at the age of 20, and in the 1970s she traveled to India, Tibet, Mexico and Italy for inspiration. Le Kinff lived and worked in Italy for twelve years learning the ancient techniques of tempera, egg painting and the gold leaf method taught by masters in Florence and Livorno. She also took an apprenticeship in wood engraving, copper engraving, and learned the modern techniques of acrylic and airbrush painting. In 1975 she learned lithography, and the following year she met Okamoto Taro, known as “the Japanese Picasso,” who introduced her to the sand and sumi technique. In 1981 she spent six months in Morocco with Chaibia Talal studying abstract design. She returned to school in south Tyrol where she became interested in painted, polished and varnished woodwork, using a special material made of casein. She applied it to her paintings and continues to use this technique today on her serigraphs, while keeping the traditional approach of painting in acrylic on canvas, as well. Le Kinff also experimented with watercolors by mixing greasy pastels, ink and watercolors together. In 1998, she was selected as the official World Cup Artist. For that distinction, she created a painting that was minted into a commemorative coin by the French Government. In the 21st Century she has begun to experiment with collage, and is famous for working without a model, relying on her memories of traveling, her dreams, and her imagination. Location BC
