    Sebastien Leclerc (France, 1637-1714) etching Louis XVI Visiting the Royal Academy of Sciences, 1671). Measures 16.5 x 12.125 inches (41.9 x 30.8 cm) plate size and 24 x 18.75 inches framed. Appears to be in very fine condition, not inspected out of framing. Professionally framed. If lot is absent of a condition report one may be requested via email. Condition report is provided as an opinion only and is no guarantee as condition can be subjective. Buyer must view photographs or scans to assist in determining condition and ask further questions if so desired. The setting is a riverbank, and they hold an oval floral medallion picturing a figure with a torch and a fire-breathing dragon | This print is part of a series of 4 plates depicting Allegorical Tapestries of the Seasons designed by Charles Le Brun, court painter and manager of decorations for the palaces of King Louis XIV. They combine allegories of the seasons represented by classical gods and goddesses, supporting central medallions, and with border mottos and palace settings aggrandizing the life of Louis XIV.
