    William Leighton Leitch, RI,  Scottish 1804-1883-  Near Glasgow;  pen and black ink on paper, bears artist's studio stamp (Lugt 1743) (lower right), 8.7 x 12.5 cm.  Provenance:  with The Fry Gallery, London.  Private Collection, UK.  Note:  Leitch worked largely in watercolours, serving as the Vice President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours for 20 years, from 1864 until his death, and also acted as the Drawing Master to Queen Victoria and the royal family for 22 years. The present work is located in the artist's native Scotland, depicting three figures upon a road outside Glasgow, one resting on a low wall, before summoning the energy to continue on her journey.
