Levit was an influential teacher who developed the careers of his students including Peter Hirsch, Martin Lipsitt and Tom Courtos amongst others. Levit s artistic output extended beyond his paintings into design and illustration. His work has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Fine Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Chicago Institute of Fine Art.
