    At Denise René [and] Hans Mayer Gallery. Krefeld 1969. Zwei fotografische und zehn illustrierte Blätter. Illustrierte Originalbroschur. Originaldokument der ersten Einzelausstellung des jungen Künstlers Peter »Pit« Brodbeck, der zunächst als Assistent bei Hans Mayer gearbeitet hatte. Nach einem Aufenthalt in Istanbul kehrte er mit dem Künstlernamen »Sultan« zurück nach Krefeld und produzierte 30 großformatige Monotypien auf Metallplatten, die in der neuen Galerie von Mayer und René gezeigt wurden – allerdings unverkäuflich blieben. Brodbeck-Sultan arbeitete noch für kurze Zeit für den Düsseldorfer Fotografen Hans Lux, bevor er unter dem neuen Künstlernamen Peter Lindbergh (1944–2019) selbst als Fotograf tätig und weltberühmt wurde. – Vorderumschlag mit Namenszug »MAYER«, wohl das Exemplar des Galeristen (1940–2022): »[…] den schmalen Katalog [zur Sultan-Ausstellung 1969] hütet er [Hans Mayer] bis heute wie einen Schatz.
