Über den Nil mit einigen Booten hinweg gleitet der Blick auf eine große orientalische Gebäudeanlage mit Kuppeln und Minaretten, zudem gesäumt von Palmen unter stimmungsvollen rötlich-blauem Himmel. Der Künstler war ein deutscher Architektur- und Landschaftsmaler sowie Illustrator der Düsseldorfer Schule. Er studierte an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Eugen Gustav Dücker (1841 – 1916). His training in the landscape classes of Dücker and Janssen at the Düsseldorf Academy is visible in the works of Georg Macco, who was born in Aachen, throughout his lifetime. However, he expands his motifs from the Rhineland, the Netherlands and neighboring regions to exotic places. He becomes acquainted with these on his travels, which take the young artist from Athens to Constantinople, Jerusalem and Mecca. With his views of Cairo, Macco was very successful at the time, as well as with his plastic depictions of nature of the Alps and Scandinavia. Georg Macco, who worked from Düsseldorf after additional years of study in Munich and his first excursions, still fascinates us today with his travel depictions. Although meticulously planned, they are always characterized by the spontaneity and plasticity that reflect his enthusiasm for foreign places. The timelessness of historical places or natural spectacles are still valid today. All of Georg Macco's works offered under lots 1251 to 1256 originate from a collection to which they came directly from the artist's estate and thus have a special provenance. (1863 Aachen - 1933 Genua) Straße in Alt-Kairo Das impressionistisch aufgefasste, für den Künstler typische Orientbild, wird durch eine reiche Figurenstaffage belebt. Macco schildert hierbei die pittoreske Architektur mit Moschee und Minarett sowie über die Straße gespannte osmanisch-türkische Flaggen. Der Künstler studierte 1880-1887 an der Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie, zunächst bei Hugo Crola, Heinrich Lauenstein, Johann Peter Theodor Janssen, seit 1883 als Meisterschüler bei Eugen Dücker an der Düsseldorfer Akademie. 1886 wurde er lebenslanges Mitglied im Düsseldorfer Künstlerverein "Malkasten", außerdem war er Mitglied der Allgemeinen Deutschen Kunstgenossenschaft, der Vereinigung Düsseldorfer Künstler sowie der Freien Vereinigung Düsseldorfer Künstler. Seit 1888 freischaffend in Düsseldorf tätig, unternahm Macco von dort aus zahlreiche Studienreisen, darunter mehrere in den ihn faszinierenden Orient, der Hauptthema seines künstlerischen Schaffens wurde. Diese Reisen führten ihn in den Nahen Osten, Ägypten und Arabien, wo er u. a. Konstantinopel (Istanbul), Jerusalem, Kairo und Mekka besuchte. Seit 1886 beschickte Macco erfolgreich bedeutende Ausstellungen in Barcelona, Berlin (Große Berliner Kunstausstellung), Düsseldorf, London und München (Jahresausstellung im Glaspalast). 1894 erhielt er eine Goldmedaille in München, 1899 eine Silbermedaille in London, weitere Auszeichnungen folgten. 25 1/4" by 20" framed. Georg Macco (1863 - 1933) was active/lived in Germany. Georg Macco is known for Landscape painting. Georg Macco was born 1863 in Aachen. Like his great-granduncle, the portrait and history painter Alexander Macco, Georg decided to start a painting career and studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf between 1880 and 1887 under Eugen Gustav Dücker and Johann Peter Theodor Janssen. After he first painted alpine and Nordic landscapes, Macco undertook numerous journeys to the Orient, where he found inspiration and motifs for his paintings that eventually made him one of the most sought German Orient painters.

Macco, der 1880-1887 an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Eugen Dücker und Johann Peter Theodor Janssen studierte, unternahm weite Studienreisen, die ihn außer nach Norwegen und Spitzbergen auch nach Athen, Konstantinopel sowie in den Orient und Ägypten führten.
