Born in Leningrad. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1988). Member of the Royal Society of Painters and Graphic Artists of Great Britain (1994). Corresponding Member of Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2006). Awarded with prestigious international prizes, among which are Grand prix of the First All-Union Biennale of Graphics (1990, Kaliningrad), Triennale'94 Special Prize (Osaka, Japan), Ibizagraphic'94 Silver Prize (Ibiza, Spain), Grand Prix International Exhibition of Graphics and Poster "4 Block" (Kharkiv, 1994), Hungarian Artists Association Prize "Master of Graphic" (2001), etc. Participated in more than 70 art exhibitions. Solo exhibitions were held in Ukraine and abroad. His works are in the Victoria and Albert Museum (London), Corcoran Gallery of Art (Washington), Metropolitan Museum (New York), National Art Museum of Ukraine, State Tretyakov Gallery and other museums and private collections. Pavlo Makov represents Ukraine at the 59th Venice Biennale with his art project "Fountain of Exhaustion. High Water" (2022). Paintings by Pavlo Makov are sold at many auctions around the world, including Lauritz Auction, Chiswick Auctions, Sothebys, Bruun Rasmussen, PhillipsDePury, Goldens, Dukat and others. His works are stored in numerous private and gallery collections in Europe and Ukraine. In 2022, the painting The Battle of the Sea (2016) was successfully sold in a charity auction organised by the Dukat Auction House and the Serhiy Prytula Foundation.
