      Manley, Thomas Rathbone (American 1853 - 1938), River Landscape, oil , 11.5 x 15.5 inches (sight size), signed T. R. Manley lower left, framed in a cove style white washed frame measuring 21 x 25.5 inches, After acquiring a Model T Ford Manley could range far-a-field. His method was to paint 'thumb-nail' sketches putting down quickly his fresh impression of a scene and from this he would paint his larger pictures. He had a photographic memory and could evoke with the aid of his little sketches the reality of the scene and its special atmosphere.
