He emigrated to Paris, where in the 1860s he established a studio specializing in large-format albumen prints of posed figures and anatomical studies. His series, particularly the "Études d’après le modèle vivant" (Studies after the living model), were commissioned by painters, sculptors, and art academies, serving as visual models for academic painting, drawing instruction, and anatomical training. From the 1870s onward, Marconi worked in Brussels, supplying academies with highly accurate reproductions of antique sculptures as well as live nude models, thus creating an important link between photography and sculpture. His nude photographs show a clear affinity with the work of contemporaries such as Wilhelm von Gloeden, Louis Igout, and Eugène Durieu, who were also active in nude photography and anatomical studies, but were more firmly rooted in artistic discourse or medical practice. In this context, Marconi positions himself as a technically skilled producer of disciplinary and educational media, who, through the possibilities of albumen printing, provided a clear, detailed, and neutralized representation of the body for academic image production. In these compositions, often set against unadorned backgrounds or simple landscapes, Marconi displayed a keen focus on the sculptural qualities of the human form, emphasizing the dynamics of muscular movement.
