        DESCRIPTION: Charles Mente (New York, 1857 - 1933). Stained glass window preliminary sketch on paper. Signed lower left. Illegibly marked upon the reverse in pencil. Stamped upon the reverse in blue "No.... This sketch is the property of Henry B. Hankinson 154-156 Wright Street Newark, New Jersey, and must be returned". In portfolio. Henry B. Hankinson owned a stained glass business in Newark. In 1917 he contracted with Christ Lutheran Church in Gettysburg, PA to install twelve stained glass windows that were destroyed during the Battle of Gettysburg. MEASUREMENTS: 16-1/4" x 5-5/8". Overall with portfolio 22" x 11-1/8". CONDITION: Toning and foxing to portfolio. Some losses to paint. Minor undulation to image.
