Date: 1845 Description: The artwork depicted shows a maritime scene in broad daylight, in which a wide variety of watercraft, from sailing ships to rowing boats, can be seen. The scene takes place on a beach, characterised by heaped up earth and scattered maritime artefacts, including ropes and anchors. The composition consists of human figures in contemporary clothing and seagulls, which create a lively atmosphere. The colour spectrum ranges from earthy tones to a palette of blue and grey shades of the sky.
