          Est: $200 - $300

Arthur Miller New York, NY, ca. 1964 Arthur Miller Signed 1st Ed. "After the Fall" Signed book Autographed first edition of "After the Fall" by Arthur Miller, limited to 500 copies for private distribution. 129pp. (New York: The Viking Press, Inc., 1964). Signed on the limited edition page as "Arthur Miller" in blue ballpoint pen. Brown fabric hardcover, housed within protective slipcase. Red painted edges present along top of pages, with gilt detailing on cover and spine. Light wear to slipcase, with general page toning within. Otherwise, near fine. 6.5" x 9.75". "After the Fall", one of Miller's more personal plays, is a thinly veiled personal critique centered on Miller's recent divorce from Marilyn Monroe. The plot takes place inside the mind of Quentin, a New York City Jewish intellectual who decides to reexamine his life in order to determine whether he should marry his most recent love, Holga. Parallels can be drawn between Monroe and the character of Maggie, Quentin's second wife and entertainer who later commits suicide, as well as the character Holga to Miller's third wife, Inge. This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
