      James Vance Miller (Virginia/West Virginia, 1912-2002), two oil on board Impressionist style landscapes, both rendered with thick impasto applications. 1st painting titled en verso FALL COLORS, BLACKSBURG VIRGINIA, depicting whitewater tumbling over a rock-strewn creek surrounded by colorful trees, signed lower right and housed in a whitewashed wood frame (10" x 12" board, 12 1/2" x 14 1/2" framed). 2nd painting titled en verso ALONG THE CANAL, WASHINGTON, DC, depicting a figure walking along a curving body of water, surrounded by trees.
