It is an elegant view of the red headed woman savoring her sparkling water produced by the company. In fact, this is the top half of a 2 section poster and the bottom half is all text, including the name of the company. This poster is very decorative and charming despite it being over 85 years old. Henri Le Monnier created a small body of work in the field of advertising posters. He worked mainly for the printer Affiches Lutetia based in Paris. Most of his designs were created from the 1920's - 1938 and are colorful, spirited, and somewhat humorous much in the style of Leonetto Cappiello and Jean D'Ylen who were more popular at that time. Le Monnier has a fine artistic hand and many of his posters are quite valuable in today's market. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. MONNIER Henry (1799-1877). MANUSCRIT autographe signé « Henry Monnier », Un souvenir ; titre et 7 pages et demie oblong in-4, avec billet d'accompagnement et portrait lithographié (par Gavarni), le tout monté sur onglets et relié demi-maroquin à coins brun. Amusant texte dans lequel Monnier relate une conversation sur la bonté humaine, entre deux figures du peuple : « Je me trouvais, il y a deux ans, sur l'impériale de la voiture qui fait le service du Mans à Laval ; j'avais à ma gauche le conducteur de la diligence, à ma droite un homme d'une soixantaine d'années ».... Entre ces deux personnages, le conducteur et le Père Langlois, s'engage alors un dialogue, chacun se défendant d'être « bon enfant », et accusant l'autre de trop de coeur et de générosité. Monnier retranscrit les attitudes et le parler populaire des personnages, qui aident sur la route les enfants abandonnés, les pauvres petits miséreux qui demandent l'aumône, par bandes, sur les chemins... Etc. Au dos de la page de titre, court billet a.s. : « Je souhaite le bonjour à l'ami Cor et le prie de voir pour moi mon ancien hôte M. Comaert de l'étoile [...] à Anvers et delui souhaiter le bonjour de ma part ».

It is an elegant view of the red headed woman savoring her sparkling water produced by the company. In fact, this is the top half of a 2 section poster and the bottom half is all text, including the name of the company. This poster is very decorative and charming despite it being over 85 years old. Henri Le Monnier created a small body of work in the field of advertising posters. He worked mainly for the printer Affiches Lutetia based in Paris. Most of his designs were created from the 1920's - 1938 and are colorful, spirited, and somewhat humorous much in the style of Leonetto Cappiello and Jean D'Ylen who were more popular at that time.
