    Artist: After Martha Mood | 1908 - 1972 Title: End of Day Signed l/l: Marth Mood © LKH 1972 Media: Stitchery Dimensions: 50 by 35 inches Art dealer Lester Kierstead Henderson who promoted Martha Mood's art and was author of The Sublime Heritage of Martha Mood, assembled this stitchery after the artist's death and signed the work with the artist's name, copyright symbol, his initials, LKH, and 1972, which was the year of the artist's death. Accompanying this lot is a limited edition dye print of the stitchery. Martha Mood appliqué stitcheries were collected by many significant Texans including Lyndon Baines Johnson, John Connally and the King Ranch.

    Martha Mood tapestries are uncommon works of art that are just recently being discovered and appreciated. This work is titled June flowers and measures 52 x 35.5 inches. Mood was a teacher, photographer and fiber artist who lived in California but is mostly associated with Texas. Her work is held by museums in both states, and many others. This work is circa 1972 and was made after her passing at the venerable Guy Fino's Manufactura de Tapeçarias de Portalegre in Portugal.
