In 1913, at the age of 41, William Moorcroft opened Moorcroft Pottery, which is still located in the same building in Stoke-on-Trent, England. Nine years previously, he had won a gold medal at the St. Louis International Exhibition; this proved to be the first of many awards. William Moorcroft artwork for sale includes Aurelianware, which he invented by using a fusion of Oriental pottery and early Roman ceramics techniques.
Toward the end of the 19th century, Moorcroft pioneered the slip-trailing method, which is popular during inlay. William Moorcroft's pomegranate vases were among his most sought-after pieces, and he created several series of them during his career. The bulk of William Moorcroft's pottery's artistic design subjects were natural, specifically fruit and flora, which he created using intricate strokes and rich colors.
