Lithograph Klaus Moritz (born 1930) - German lithographer and painter Signed lower right „K. Moritz" Inscribed „E.A" Very elegant frame Overall dimensions: 70 x 94.5 cm Very good condition This lithograph of the German artist Klaus Moritz shows a shop front as it can be found in nearly every Irish town. The left front shows the closed pub O'Neills. Advertising signs for whisky Paddy and the Bass & Co. Brewery are standing in its windows. The shop next to the pub offers cigarettes from the brands Craven A and Sweet Afton just as colours by Valspar. Moritz has made a few of these lithographs depicting Irish shop fronts. An amusing detail is the dog that can be found on nearly all of these prints. The lithograph is in very good condition. The elegant and heavy wooden frame is in very good, slightly used condition. The print is signed in the lower right and inscribed on the left „E.A." (Épreuve d'Artiste). The overall dimensions measure 70 x 94.5 cm, the dimensions of the print are 55 x 79 cm. Klaus Moritz (born 1930) The German graphic artist Klaus Moritz learned lithographer from 1944-1948 and then studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. He worked as a free and successful artist in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) before he migrated to the German Federal Republic in 1959. He worked as a free advertising graphic designer and lithographer and exhibited successfully. A huge part of his work can now be seen in the City Museum of Aschersleben, his eastern German hometown.
