James Henry Moser (1854-1913) American, Watercolor. Signed lower right. 1890. Landscape painting a calm lake with a copse in the foreground, house and trees visible on the far bank. Framed. Overall Size: 18 1/4 x 28 in. Sight Size: 10 x 19 3/4 in. James Henry Moser (1854-1913) was a Canadian-born painter and illustrator active across the United States, notably in the District of Columbia. Although primarily an illustrator for publications like the Washington Post and Harper's, he was also a prominent landscape painter in oil and watercolor. Moser was awarded the first Corcoran Prize by the Washington Watercolor Club and completed a series of watercolors for the Great Southern Railroad. He also taught art at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Columbian University.
