    Müller ''Hohnstein''. Aquatintaradierung, 1927. Unterhalb der Darstellung rechts in Blei signiert und datiert, betitelt unten links. Evtl Werk von Kurt Müller (1876-1955). Fernsicht auf die einem Felssporn thronenden Burg Hohnstein in der Sächsischen Schweiz bei Dresden. 23 x 17,5 cm (Pl), 43 x 30 cm (Untersatz). Vollflächig auf Pappe kaschiert. Staubrandig und etwas angebräunt. Vormalig im Passepartout, dieses berissen. Castle Hohnstein in Saxon Switzerland near Dresden. Etching, 1927. Signed and dated in pencil below the motif right, titled left. Mounted on cardboard. Formerly in passepartout, upper part ripped off. A bit dusty and slightly tanned.

    Molded on one side with King Gambrinus offering a glass of lager to Brother Jonathan, a goat jumping on top of the keg molded on the end with the factory initials "U.P.W.," on the other side with Bill Nye and the "Heathen Chinee" Ah Sin, all on a pale blue ground, the spout molded as the head of a sea lion and the handle a polar bear. Height 9 5/8 inches.Literature: The history and stylistic characteristics of this pitcher, as well as two versions of this model, are discussed and illustrated in Alice Cooney Frelinghuysen, "American Porcelain 1770-1920," pp. 182-184, cat. n. 61.
