(index) ; veau marbré, dos à nerfs orné, pièce de titre rouge (Rel. du XVIIIe). Nissen BBI 1428. Édition originale posthume de cette splendide encyclopédie de botanique répertoriant toutes les plantes connues, classiques et exotiques. Elle est illustrée de 243 planches en noir, mettant en scène une très grande diversité de plantes, arbres, herbes, fleurs, suspendues dans les airs au-dessus de paysages animés, et avec de délicats phylactères portant les noms en latin, jarres décoratives, éléments d'architecture, outils, personnages… ; elles ont été gravées à l'eau-forte par Joseph Mulder et Jacob Goeré. L'illustration comprend également de belles vignettes en taille-douce, bandeaux et culs-de-lampe. Abraham Munting (1626-1683), fils du botaniste Henricus Munting, dirigea le célèbre jardin botanique de Groningue créé par son père. Cet ouvrage est une édition très augmentée de son premier traité "Waare Oeffening der Planten", paru d'abord en 1672 puis en 1682. Pratiquement achevé à la mort de l'auteur, il ne fut finalement publié que 13 ans après. Petits défauts à la reliure : taches, frottements, accrocs aux coiffes. Mors fendus.
