Signed and dated on upper right. Signature, title, and date are hand-painted on the verso. A beautiful painting by Giuseppe Napoli depicting a still life that features a large teapot at the center flanked by an ensemble of vessels - a lidded sugar bowl, a tall drinking glass, and two wine bottles - through his modernist lens. Napoli explored both expressionistic representational as well as completely non-representational art. While this composition is certainly figurative, a close examination reveals Napoli's undeniable appreciation of form, color, and line which led to his sophisticated pursuit of nonrepresentational art and Abstract Expressionism. A very special piece rendered in an arresting palette - shades of mauve, strawberry red, sky blue, black and white - by mid-century New York School modernist, Giuseppe Napoli.
