Odd Nerdrum Sold at Auction Prices

Painter, b. 1944 -

Norwegian contemporary artist Odd Nerdrum was active during the Kitsch Movement. He studied at the National Academy of Art in Oslo in 1962, then under Joseph Beuys in 1965 after moving to Dusseldorf. Odd Nerdrum's drawings were done using Renaissance techniques, with emotional subjects that told a story. Odd Nerdrum's artwork was primarily created using live models, instead of photographs as some artists had begun doing, because this figurative painter chose to use more traditional methods.

Odd Nerdrum's drawings are painted with hand-mixed colors, on canvases he stretched with himself. Sadly, his skill with those techniques was never perfected and original Odd Nerdrum paintings for sale have been known to show signs of deterioration. Browse stunning Renaissance-style figural paintings online and find the perfect classical edition to your gallery.
