Adam'sLiam O'Neill (b.1954) Horses and Jockeys Oil on canvas, 75 x 101cm (29½ x 39¾'') Signed Liam O'Neill was born in 1954 on the Dingle Peninsula, County Kerry. A self-taught painter, the inspiration for his work stems from his native place, its people, and its daily happenings and events. Having left at the age of 17 to pursue a career in Dublin, he returned to Kerry in 2002 and continued to develop his passion for painting his native place. His work reflects many aspects of life in West Kerry, especially the ones that are fast-fading from living memory; the old ways of farming from herding sheep and cows, to saving hay and cutting turf. Horses and horse fairs dominate his paintings, from memories of his days as a youth visiting Dingle Fair with his father.
