      SAMUEL OWEN (BRITISH, 1768-1857), Brig 'Favourite' in the Channel Plymouth, Signed and inscribed 'Saml. Owen 281 Poplar 1846' on reverse of canvas, together with title, Oil on canvas, 17¼ x 24¼in. (44 x 61.5cm.), The dating and location noted by the artist strongly suggest one candidate for this trading brig, that of the Favourite built at Bristol in 1845 for Parker & Co. who was the owner/master. Registered at 210 tons.
