        Executed in 1955 by Golden Age Comics illustrator, Mac L. Pakula (1923 - 2013) and titled, "The Visitors", this wonderful Americana depiction received a good critique by Norman Rockwell, while Pakula was studying at the School of Cartoonists and Illustrators in New York. Mr. Rockwell was an instructor and frequent celebrity visitor at the school. The canvas area of this casein painting measures 24 by 30 inches. Signed lower left. The frame bears title on brass tag and measures, 32.5 by 38 inches, shipping weight is about 9 lbs. A note by Mac Pakula on index card outlines the story. "I also studied with painter Norman Rockwell, who gave me a lot of good advice. He used to come [to the school] from his New England home every few months and bring in his paintings and explain how he worked." ~2009 Casein paint, derived from milk casein (milk protein), is a fast-drying, water soluble medium used by artists.         "A collection of choice sayings & unhappy thoughts to start the day off wrong". By Mac Pakula. Original drawings on grey card stock paper in ink and pencil. Eighteen cards with drawings, approximately 4.125" x 3.125". Seven cards have been "inked" and the other eleven cards are blue pencil drawings, some notes and changes. (These cards are similar to Garbage Pail Kids). The lot weighs about 150.7 grams total. Mac L. Pakula (American,1913-2003) worked for Atlas/Marvel Comics in the 1950s during the Golden Age.
