Note: Percy Parlo is the pseudonym of the largely self-taught German artist Karl Klamann. A winding, almost enchanted alley in Viry-sur-Orge, situated between Paris and the forest of Fontainebleau and today a district of Viry-Châtillon, served Percy Parlo, originally from Pomerania and a representative of the Paris School, as inspiration for this Fauvist-Expressionist veduta. In the background you can see the striking tower of the church Saint-Denis, a landmark of the charming little town, which is idyllically situated at the river mouth of the Orge in the Seine.
