    Richard Philips (the United Kingdom, 1681 - 1741), oil on canvas painting depicting a gentleman wearing a brown velvet coat and a long richly embroidered waistcoat. Signed by the artist: Rich. Philips pinxit, and dated 1728. Housed in an original giltwood and gesso frame from the original period bearing a metal bar inscribed: "Richd. Philips "Pinxit" (Signed and Dated 1728)."

    Portrait Of A Lady, Dated 1739, Richard Philips (1681–1741) Oil on canvas half length portrait of a lady portrayed wearing a pink satin dress with an elegant flowing blue wrap, a lamb (ever so cute!) with a flower garland nearby. The portrait is signed and dated ‘R. J. Philips pinxit 1739’. A charming subject and a good example of British 18th century art. Held in an antique frame.The compo decoration upper left is damaged, but we will have that repaired in the fullness of time. Richard Philips was a British portrait painter who was born (and died) in London. Some of his work is held in London’s National Portrait Gallery, the Bank of England, Cromwell Museum, and Guildhall Museum Rochester to name a few. His son, Charles Phillips (1708-1748) was also a painter. 102 cm tall, 82 cm wide and 5 cm deep

Seine Arbeiten werden weltweit, z.B. im Museum of Modern Art New York und der Tate Gallery London ausgestellt.
