Otto Press, Nocturne Mond über sommerlicher Landschaft mit Bauersfrau vorm Haus am Fluss, stimmungsvolle, lasierende Landschaftsmalerei in dunkeltoniger Farbigkeit und effektvollem Licht, Öl auf Leinwand, rechts unten undeutlich signiert und datiert "O. Press [18]65", rückseitig originales Ausstellungsetikett mit handschriftlicher Ergänzung "Gemälde vom Preußischen Kunstverein, Motiv: »Bei Berneichen in der Neumark« gemalt von Press ..." sowie weitere alte, fragmentarisch erhaltene Etiketten zur Bild- und Rahmengröße, möglicherweise ist das Gemälde identisch mit dem bei Boetticher aufgeführten und 1866 auf der Berliner Akademieausstellung gezeigten Gemälde "...3. ... Mondaufgang in der Mark – Berl. ak. KA. [18]66...", hinterlegte Fehlstellen in der Leinwand, alt retuschiert, original im Goldstuckrahmen (restaurierungsbedürftig) gefasst, Falzmaße ca. 45 x 63 cm. Künstlerinfo: signiert auch Pres bzw. Preß, dt. Landschaftsmaler (1837 bis 1889), unternahm Studienreisen durch Deutschland, Österreich, Norwegen Tirol und die Schweiz, beschickte die Ausstellungen des Preußischen Kunstvereins und 1866–88 die Berliner Akademieausstellung, spätestens 1871 bis 1887 Mitglied im Verein Berliner Künstler, tätig in Berlin, Quelle: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Boetticher, Fotoalbum "Deutsche Künstler" und Archiv der Akademie der Künste Berlin. Otto Press, Nocturne Moon over a summer landscape with a peasant woman in front of a house by the river, atmospheric, glazed landscape painting in dark-toned colours and effective light, oil on canvas, indistinctly signed and dated lower right "O. Press [18]65", original exhibition label on the reverse with handwritten addition "Gemälde vom Preußischen Kunstverein, Motiv: "Bei Berneichen in der Neumark" gemalt von Press ..." as well as other old, fragmentary labels on the size of the painting and frame, the painting is possibly identical to the painting listed by Boetticher and shown at the Berlin Academy Exhibition in 1866 "...3. ... Moonrise in the Mark - Berl. ak. KA. [18]66...", backed losses to the canvas, old retouching, originally mounted in a gilt stucco frame (in need of restoration), inner dimensions approx. 45 x 63 cm. Artist information: also signed Pres or Preß, German landscape painter (1837 to 1889), travelled through Germany, Austria, Norway Tyrol and Switzerland, participated in the exhibitions of the Prussian Art Association and the Berlin Academy Exhibition 1866-88, member of the Berlin Artists' Association from 1871 to 1887 at the latest, active in Berlin, source: Thieme-Becker, Saur "Bio-Bibliographisches Künstlerlexikon", Boetticher, photo album "Deutsche Künstler" and archive of the Berlin Academy of Arts.

It depicts a landscape bathed in the warm light of sunset. On the right side is a path in the rocky landscape with a hiker's couple. In the background emerges a wide mountain and lake landscape. The realistic nature depiction with small, fine brushstrokes, as well as the broad sky area, conveyed in the subtle nuances of colour, reveal the virtuosity of this landscape painter from Berlin. The painting is signed lower left. The work is in good condition with minimal traces of wear and age. Retouches of paint are visible on the left margin. Fine craquelure covers the colour surface. The gold frame displays traces of wear. The total dimensions are framed 53.7 x 72 cm and the stretcher frame is 44.5 x 63 cm in size.
