Fisher-Prout was born in London, daughter of the painter Mark Fisher. She studied under him and attended the Slade School in 1894-7. She exhibited at numerous places including the Royal Academy, the Royal Watercolour Society, and the New English Art Club. In 1922 she had a solo exhibition at the Beaux Arts Gallery. She also taught drawing at the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts.

She was an active member of multiple societies and clubs that helped support and promote the work of women, including the Society of Women Artists and the Women's International Art Club. Prout often employed unconventional techniques in her artworks, for example making studies in oil before completing a final watercolour, she would use certain colours and pigments in unusual ways and sometimes poured water over a work to achieve her desired result.
