Ariana Richards

Ariana Richards is an American painter and former actor known for her portraits of people and animals, as well as her landscapes. A descendant of Italian Renaissance painter Carlo Crivelli, Richards believes that painting has always been in her blood. She attributes her artistic development to her contemporary Impressionist-style mentors from her education, as well as legendary painters such as Claude Monet and Edgar Degas, who serve as ongoing sources of inspiration for her work. Many of her paintings stem from sudden moments of inspiration, as she aims to capture and connect people to their surroundings through her art. In her portrayal of women, Richards presents a classical view of femininity: long hair sometimes adorned with flowers, and dressed in flowing skirts and dresses, her subjects are often lost in a contemplative gaze, adding an enigmatic quality to her depiction of femininity. Notable among her works is her 2003 painting A Timeless Moment, in which she depicts a long-haired woman petting a cat as she sits on a bench.

Born in Healdsburg, California, Richards gained recognition for her role as Lex in "Jurassic Park" at the age of 14. She furthered her artistic education by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in fine art and drama from Skidmore College, followed by studies in classical drawing and painting methods at Pasadena’s Art Center College of Design.
