(1886 Liegnitz - München 1953). Beskiden (in Polen). Aquarell. Ca. 50 x 67 cm. Unt. re. sign. Unter Glas gerahmt (nicht ausgerahmt). Verso bez. "Beskiden". Röhricht galt seit 1935 als entartet, und 1937 wurden in der Aktion "Entartete Kunst" fünf seiner Bilder aus öffentlichen Sammlungen beschlagnahmt. Deren Verbleib ist ungeklärt. Er konnte seine Person jedoch über die Jahre schadlos halten. Ein Großteil seines Schaffens vor 1945 wurde Ende des Krieges in das Stadtschloss Kuchelberg bei Liegnitz ausgelagert und ist - wenn nicht zerstört oder entwendet worden - durch nicht nachvollziehbare Umlagerungen seitdem verschollen. 1945/1946 war Röhricht in Berlin auf der vom Kulturbund zur Demokratischen Erneuerung Deutschlands veranstalteten Ausstellung Bildender Künstler mit zwei Aquarellen vertreten... Sein Werk umfasst Zeichnungen, Lithografien, Holzschnitte, Aquarelle, Tusche-Mischtechnik-Bilder und Ölgemälde, viele davon sind im Besitz des Museums von Haus Schlesien nahe Bonn. R

Condition: The painting is in good condition. Tiny craquelure can be seen in some places and minimal retouched spots at the edges. The inspection under UV light reveals a few retouched spots mainly affecting the upper right edge. The frame bears a few signs of wear. Wolf Röhricht (1886-1953) Born in Lower Silesia, Wilhelm Hermann Wolfgang Röhricht first trained in water coloring with Heinrich Knirr in Munich. After living in Berlin and Dresden, he went to Paris and studied under Pierre Bonnard and Édouard Vuillard at the Académie Julian. In 1913, he returned to Berlin and joined the Free Secession and exhibited his work at the Fritz Gurlitt gallery, amongst others. At the time of National Socialism, Röhrichts art was regarded as 'degenerate'. Numerous works from the period before 1945 were destroyed during the war or are missing since then. In 1945, he settled in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and joined the New Munich Secession. Röhricht has created primarily watercolors, featuring landscapes, industrial motifs and portraits.
