This sculpture represents a young woman reclining next to a greyhound, embodying the elegance and refinement of the Art Deco period. Made of alabaster and patinated bronze, the work captures the modern and refined aesthetic of the 1920s and 1930s. It sits on a veined black marble base, which adds visual sophistication and enhances the overall composition. An outstanding example of Art Deco design, this work celebrates femininity, luxury and fluid movement. The presence of the greyhound, a breed historically associated with aristocracy and high society, further reinforces the themes of refinement and social distinction. Alberto Saccardi (1883-1956 Italy) Art Deco Carved Marble Female Sculpture on Alabaster Base. Addition of lamp in base with added hole; likely an alteration and not original to the sculpture. Signed on back of base with "MAE N ITALY". Fine sculpting of marble with detailed cape featuring bird motif on back. Fitted base with cushion style surface on platform. Figure and base can be seperated. Overall sculpture measures 19.5x13x17" with figure measuring 15" tall. Some damage to fingers on figure's left hand and chips to cape fringe and to skirt near back foot. Presents well and is in overall good condition otherwise.
