This fine impression with strong tonal qualities is in very fine condition, matted, not framed, very clean, the full untrimmed sheet, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. 2. Louis P (Lajos) Szanto (1889-1965) Spring Plowing (1942). The etching from an edition of 143 prints published by Associated American Artists is signed by the artist in pencil below the image lower right and titled verso by the original AAA publisher's label. Very good condition, good margins, not laid down, no damage, stain, punctures, tears or repair. 1. Summer measures 13.25 x 9.5, sheet is 15.5 x 11.5 inches. No frame. 2. Georges Schreiber Belgian American, (1904-1977) Southern Siesta lithograph mounted on board Pencil signed lower right. Biography from the Archives of askART: George Schreiber was born 25 April 1904 in Brussels, Belgium. After studying in Berlin, London, Rome, Paris, and Florence, he moved to New York in 1928. Schreiber exhibited at the Carnegie Institute, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Art Institute of Chicago, Whitney Museum of American Art, Metropolitan Museum and the Museum of Modern Art - often winning prizes. Besides his career as a lithographer, Schreiber was also a painter, illustrator, watercolorist as well as a teacher at the New School for Social Research. Museum collections of Schreiber's work include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum, Whitney Museum of American Art, Museum of the City of New York. Schreiber was a regular contributor to several national magazines and an author and illustrator of several books. The artist died in New York in 1977.

As part of the United States Government efforts during World War ll there was a large campaign to raise funds to support the war effort. In this image created by Georges Schreiber (1904-1977), the population is being asked to support the 3rd. War Loan Campaign and in the image we see all of the paratroopers who need a lot of equipment to perform properly. Belgian-born Schreiber was employed by the US Army and Navy during WWII to document scenes from the war alongside his colleague and friend, Thomas Hart Benton. He is highly regarded for his paintings from the American Scene movement. His works are part of many important museum collections around the world. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

Original American WWII Poster 1944 by Schreiber - Fire Away Buy Extra Bonds Large

Georges Schreiber (1904-1977) commemorates the sinking of the USS Dorado submarine in this 1944 War Bonds poster entitled, Fire Away, for the Fifth War Loan. Schreiber sailed aboard the ship in the summer of 1943 and had a personal connection to the tragedy. This is the larger size version of this poster. USS Dorado (SS-248) was a Gato-class submarine. Her keel was laid down on 27 August 1942 by the Electric Boat Company of Groton, Connecticut and was commissioned on 28 August 1943 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Earle Caffrey Schneider. The USS Dorado sailed for the Panama Canal for use in the East Asia war effort. The submarine was sunk off the coast of Cuba due to a minefield left by a German-Nazi U Boat. Belgian-born Schreiber was employed by the US Army and Navy during WWII to document scenes from the war alongside his colleague and friend, Thomas Hart Benton. He is highly regarded for his paintings from the American Scene movement. His works are part of many important musuem collections around the world. From 1925 to 1928, Schreiber worked as a free-lance artist for German newspapers, a line of work he continued after arriving in America in 1928. By 1936, he was employed with the Works Project Administration. Through his position with the WPA, he visited forty-eight states capturing contemporary American scenes. During World War II, the United States Navy commissioned Schreiber to create paintings to use as posters. Schreiber's work can be found in some of the finest American art museums, and his list of publications is extensive.
