Schwimbeck". -- -- Wie eine geisterhafte Gestalt scheint sich die skurril geformte Wurzel zu bewegen; der Künstler verleitet uns Betrachter, ein Gesicht, Arme und Beine zu entdecken. Der Maler und Graphiker Schwimbeck stand in regem Kontakt zu bedeutenden Literaten seiner Zeit und schuf seit den 1910er Jahren Buchillustrationen zur schwarzen Romantik und Phantastik, zu Werken von Arnold Strindberg, William Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe und E.T.A. Um 1920/25. -- 55 x 50 cm. -- Unten rechts mit Bleistift bezeichnet "fertig!". -- -- Der Moment des Untergangs: Blitze durchzucken den Himmel, von allen Seiten her reißt die Erde auf, es bilden sich tiefe Schluchten in den Felsmassiven, die im nächsten Moment die kleine Gebirgssiedlung verschlingen werden. Steinlawinen donnern auf sie hinab, die stürzenden Häuser scheinen zu tanzen. Diesen fatalen Augenblick schildert Schwimbeck mit kristallinen Strukturen, zusammengesetzt aus zahllosen schräg zueinander laufenden Schraffuren, die in ihrer Klarheit etwas Kühl-Beschreibendes besitzen. In der hier vorliegenden, formatfüllenden und bis ins Detail minutiös ausgearbeiteten Zeichnung erscheint Shiva, einer der Hauptgötter des Hinduismus als lichterfüllte Gestalt im Himmel. Statt des dritten Auges, versieht der Künstler die maskenhafte Fratze mit drei Totenköpfen über der Stirn. Schwimbeck", verso nochmals signiert. 1910er Jahre. -- -- Die zunächst romantisch anmutende Landschaftsvedute mit Wandersmann und Angler entpuppt sich bei genauer Betrachtung als äußerst detailreiche, mit Symbolik aufgeladene Nachtlandschaft: hier ein Totenkopf, dort eine überlebensgroße Spinne, Schlangen, Schildkröten, Würmer, ein riesiger Karpfen im Teich und ein Affe im Baum. In scheinbar zeitlich unterschiedlichen Ebenen sitzt ein Mann mit markantem Hut zunächst am Ufer eines Flusses und angelt, bevor er kurz darauf, nahezu unbeeindruckt von all dem tierischen Treiben um ihn herum, mit seinem Fang im Rucksack den Heimweg antritt.     Schwimbeck, Fritz Sammlung von 5 signierten Original-Federzeichnungen zu Hanns Heinz Ewers "Mein Begräbnis und andere seltsame Geschichten". 1917. Blattgrößen: 16 x 12 cm (4) bzw. 22,5 x 16 cm (1). Die Zeichnungen des Münchner Malers, Graphikers und Illustrators Fritz Schwimbeck (1889-1972) entstanden wohl alle im September 1917. Vier Zeichnungen wurden für das Werk von H.H. Ewers verwendet, eine Zeichnung wurde für das Buch offenbar nicht berücksichtigt. Alle Zeichnungen rechts unten in Bleistift signiert. Verso mit Betitelung sowie Vermerken zum Werk. - Vorhanden sind die Illustrationen zu den Geschichten "Die Tomatensauce", "Der Spielkasten", "Die Mamaloi", "Schlangenanbeter und Schlangenbeschwörer" (verso nur mit "Seltsame Geschichten" betitelt), sowie die nicht berücksichtigte Zeichnung (verso nur mit "Seltsame Geschichten" betitelt) im größeren Format. - Beiliegend: I.
