George Shirlaw Sold at Auction Prices

George Shirlaw F.R.S.A. elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in 1969, has mounted more than 50 one-man shows in the U.K, Spain, United States, Australia and France, as well as exhibiting in the the major mixed-shows, including the Royal Society of British Artists, the National Society and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. Recent portraits have been highly auto biographical featuring family friends and self-portraits. George’s distinctive style, full of life and energy, is also represented in landscapes and "still life" studies. Heavily featured are scenes surrounding his farmhouse home in Lincolnshire. George Shirlaw paints directly from his experience of the subject, using visual sensations in primary forms together with emotional and often explosive use of colour and line.
