Folge von drei teilweise farbigen Neonröhrenskulpturen, geformt und auf weiß gefassten Hartfaserplatten montiert. Eine rückseitig in Bleistift signiert. Dazu: Zwei Kartons mit geformten Ersatzröhren. Galerie Alexander Ochs Private, Berlin. Kunstsammlung Südwestbank AG. Ausstellung "Wang Shugang: A Chinese", Südwestbank, Stuttgart 2015. Der 1960 geborene Wang Shugang studierte Bildhauerei an der Entral Academy of Fine Arts in Peking. 1989 emigrierte er nach Deutschland, wo er im Ruhrgebiet als Bildhauer lebte und arbeitete. 2000 kehrt er in seine Heimat zurück. 2010 erhält Shugang unter dem Titel „Das Ich im Wir“ eine Einzelausstellung seiner Werke in der Residenz der deutschen Botschaft in Peking. Der Ausstellungstitel soll programmatisch für das Werk des Künstlers werden. Im selben Jahr zeigen die Alexander Ochs Galleries Berlin / Beijing in Peking die Einzelausstellung „Two are better than One“, die auf den gleichen Kontext in den Arbeiten des Künstlers verweist. Im „Apartment Block Life: Clapper“ von 2003 verdeutlich Shugang in einer stark reduzierten und stilisierten Formensprache sein zentrales Thema: Das Verhältnis vom Individuum und Kollektiv. Seine Figuren treten selten alleine auf, sondern eher als Gruppen. Aber häufig verkörpert der Einzelne trotz der kollektiven Zugewandtheit eine isolierte Existenz. So auch hier im „Apartment Block Life: Clapper“. Von November 2005 bis August 2006 fand im ZKM in Karlsruhe die Ausstellung „Lichtkunst aus Kunstlicht“ statt. U.a. ist dort der „Apartment Block Life: Clapper“ ergänzt durch drei sitzende Figuren „Squatter“ als sechsteilige Installation zu sehen gewesen.
