Literature: Lemarié, Cécile/Sigrist, Christian: Flore Sigrist, Strasbourg 2005, p. 124 (with colour ill.). “Flore Sigrist oder, eine wütende Floristik” Alain Renner The discovery of the extraordinary artist Flore Sigrist, with her expressive and vivid art, occurred when she was just seven years old. She was born in Mundolsheim in Alsace in 1985. One of her first works, a gouache on paper, was produced after she came home from a walk through the Strasbourg orangery. This picture was presented in a children’s exhibition and caused great astonishment. Her paintings are characterised by a mature aesthetic of gesture, which exude both calm and stillness, despite the swirling shapes and colours. In 1992 she met the painter and professor at the Karlsruhe Art Academy, Max Kaminski, and her first exhibition followed shortly afterwards. Encounters with art critics and art dealers, such as the auctioneer Alain Renner, helped her to define her goals. From then onwards her works were exhibited internationally. Flore Sigrist discovered for herself the laws of colour and materials without an academic background. She sets the complementary colours next to one another spontaneously and intuitively. In the search for new colours, light and shade, she uses a fine stroke and sometimes transparent layers. Her greatest source of inspiration is nature, where she tries to reproduce the summer vegetation in colourful and floral spots. Literatur: Lemarié, Cécile/Sigrist, Christian: Flore Sigrist, Strassburg 2005, S. 124 (mit Farbabb.). „Flore Sigrist oder, eine wütende Floristik“ (Alain Renner) Die Entdeckung der ungewöhnlichen Künstlerin Flore Sigrist mit ihrer ausdrucksvollen und anschaulichen Kunst, erfolgt bereits in ihrem siebten Lebensjahr. Sie wird 1985 im elsässischen Mundolsheim geboren. Eines ihrer ersten Werke, eine Gouache auf Papier, entsteht, nachdem sie von einem Spaziergang durch die Strassburger Orangerie zurückkehrt. Dieses Bild wird in einer Kinderausstellung präsentiert und erweckt grosses Erstaunen. Ihre Bilder kennzeichnen sich durch eine reife Ästhetik der Gestik, die trotz der wirbelnden Formen und Farben sowohl eine Ruhe ausstrahlen, als auch eine Immobilität auslösen. 1992 begegnet sie dem Maler und Professor der Kunstakademie Karlsruhe Max Kaminski, woraufhin kurze Zeit später ihre erste Ausstellung folgt. Begegnungen mit Kunstkritikern oder Kunsthändlern, wie dem Auktionator Alain Renner, unterstützen sie in ihrer Zielfindung. Ihre Werke werden von nun an international ausgestellt. Flore Sigrist entdeckt für sich die Gesetze der Farben und der Materie ohne akademischen Hintergrund. Spontan und intuitiv setzt sie die Komplementärfarben nebeneinander. Auf der Suche nach neuen Farben, Licht und Schatten, nutzt sie einen feinen Duktus und bisweilen transparente Schichten. Ihre grösste Inspirationsquelle ist die Natur, wo sie die Sommervegetation mit farbfrohen und floralen Tupfen versucht wiederzugeben. Zwischen der abstrakten Malerei, dem optischen Naturalismus und den expressionistischen Farben und Duktus, manifestiert sich eine wirbelnde Floristin.
