Raymond Sipos (United States, b. 1938) is descended from a family of Hungarian musicians and violin makers. After studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in California, he worked as a mechanisms and optics engineer before becoming a full-time artist in 1972. The artist generates ideas for his paintings by browsing through hundreds of color slides which he has developed through the years. Armed with a camera, he goes to unusual locations to photograph whatever intrigues him. Dynamic compositions and a vibrant palette are hallmarks of the work of this popular and avidly collected American artist.
