He enrolled in 1742 as a member of the Haarlem Guild of Saint Luke. He was a pupil of Abraham de Haen. He is best known for his topographical drawings and engravings of cityscapes and important buildings. He made engravings after drawings by de Haen, Jan de Beijer, Cornelis Pronk, and Cornelis van Noorde in addition to his own work for various publications. - Prov. He was known for his small picturesque landscape scenes. The Amsterdam Rijksmuseum collection has a sketchbook containing 65 similar drawings of towns and landscapes in the region of Brabant and Holland.

    DIE RÜCKKEHR DER FISCHER Öl auf Holz. 33 x 41 cm. Rechts unten monogrammiert. In dekorativem Rahmen.Unter hohem Himmel am breiten Sandstrand mit Blick auf das Meer ein großes Boot mit zwei Segeln, vor dem die von ihrem Fang zurückgekehrten Fischer ihre Ware anbieten. Auf dem Sand liegen diverse Fische, die linksseitig ein Mann in roter Jacke in Rückenansicht einer Frau anbietet, die kritisch den Fisch in ihrer Hand begutachtet. Rechtsseitig weitere kaufinteressierte Männer im Gespräch mit einer sitzenden Frau und ein Mann, der in einen Korb gerade Fische einfüllt, während ein anderer am rechten Rand einen gefüllten Korb davonträgt. Ein kleiner Pferdekarren wird zudem gerade mit Körben beladen. Malerei in überwiegend beige-brauner und blauer Farbgebung. Rest.Anmerkung: Verso ein alter Aufkleber einer Galerie mit Monogrammverweis und Künstlernennung vom Juli 1939 sowie ein weiterer Aufkleber mit Künstlerverweis und Betitelung „Le retour de la pêche“.
