Sporny taught at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge from 1987 to 1988 before becoming a beloved educator at West Virginia’s Marshall University for the remainder of his lifetime. Sporny exhibited widely during his career, and his works can be found in important public collections such as the National Museum of American Art and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art.
