Signed lower right, titled verso and dated 1940, 14" x 16" (image), 18.75" x 20.75" (frame). Stanford was a pupil and friend of Armin Carl Sansen, purchased from O'Gallerie in 2009.

In the late 1920's and 1930's Stanford was a student of Eustace Ziegler and worked with Sidney Lawrence. Stanford was also a pupil of Armin Carl Hansen.
