Travaillant à la fois dans les domaines de la peinture, de la sculpture et de l’image animée, il explore les intersections entre les techniques traditionnelles d’atelier et l’esthétique de la culture de l’écran. Le processus occupe une place tout aussi centrale dans son travail que le résultat final, la superposition minutieuse de matériaux tels que le plâtre et les pigments donnant naissance à des surfaces qui semblent souvent issues d’un rendu numérique. Grâce à des applications de couleur distinctives et à la manipulation des médiums, Staniak perturbe délibérément les repères visuels qui distinguent la production d’images numériques de celle traditionnelle. Ses œuvres utilisent souvent des textures à effet trompe-l’œil qui manipulent la perception de la profondeur du spectateur, évoquant des terrains cosmiques et des formations géologiques. Les surfaces hypnotiques qui en résultent agissent comme des portails vers un monde post-numérique, où les expériences physiques et virtuelles convergent, invitant à la réflexion sur les implications d’une telle existence.  EN Michael Staniak’s practice examines the changing dynamics of creative processes in response to the proliferation of social and digital media. Working across painting, sculpture and moving image, he explores the intersections between traditional studio techniques and the aesthetics of screen-based culture. Process is as much a focus of his work as outcome, with labour-intensive layering of materials such as plaster and pigment producing surfaces that often appear digitally rendered. Through distinctive applications of colour and manipulation of mediums, Staniak deliberately disrupts the visual cues that distinguish digital and traditional image production. His works often utilise textures with a trompe-l’oeil effect that manipulate the viewer’s depth perception, evoking cosmic terrains and geological formations. The resulting hypnotic surfaces act as portals into a post-digital world, where physical and virtual experiences converge, prompting reflection on the implications of such an existence.  Michaël STANIAK
