    Alexander Stern (American, 1904-1994) Signed by artist in pencil lower right and dated '34. Stern was known for his artwork of the San Francisco area and this etching is of one of the towers being built. The etching is framed and matted and under glass and housed in a ebonized frame which measures 17 3/4" by 13 3/4". All in good condition

    This is an etching by Alexander Stern entitled "Fisherman's Wharf S.F." Stern was born in Connecticut and moved to San Francisco as an infant. He worked in a newspaper's art department for eight years. After the war, he opened a studio and printing plant in San Mateo, where he produced Christmas cards, etchings, and prints. The etching is signed in the lower right and has light browning in the margin. The overall size is 17 1/4 x 15 1/4 in. wide and the sight size is 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. wide
