Sukenobu, Nishikawa. Ehon no bijin no Asakayama. Die Schönheiten des Berges Asaka. Daraus 7 Ukiyo-e Farbholzschnitte. Format Chuban 30 x 16,8 cm. Edo (Tokio) 1739. Sieben reizenden Farbholzschnitte des eher selten im Handel auftauchenden Ukiyo-e Künstlers Nishikawa Sukenobu (1671-1750), der vor allem für seine Serien von Bijin, anmutigen Frauen in traditionellen Gewändern bekannt war, die teils in Büchern (Ehon = illustrierte Bücher) veröffentlicht wurden. Hier handelt es sich aber wohl um eigenständige Blätter ohne textlichen Kontext. Der Hügel Asaka (Asakayama) ist eine Erhebung im heutigen öffentlichen Park im Bezirk Kita (Tokio), der bekannt war für seine flanierenden schönen Damen. – Kaum und nur vereinzelt minimal fleckig, geringe Gebrauchsspuren, leicht angestaubt. Sukenobu, Nishikawa. Die Begegnung. Original-Holzschnitt auf Japanpapier. Block 21,1 x 32,4 cm. Blattgröße ca. 25,6 x 33,2 cm. Unter Glas in vergoldeter Holzprofilleiste gerahmt. 36 x 41 cm. Kyoto um 1720. -- Früher Ukiyo-e Druck des aus Kyoto stammenden Künstlers Nishikawa Sukenobu (1671-1750), der neben seinen Darstellungen von Schauspielern des Kabuki- und No-Theaters vor allem für seine Frauenbilder ("bijin-ga") berühmt wurde und den Ruf der Hauptstadt des Kaiserreiches mehrte. In zwei Bänden veröffentlichte er seine "Hyakunin joro shinasadame", die Darstellung von 100 Frauen nach ihren bürgerliche und höfischen Rängen - von der Kaiserin bis zur Waschfrau und Prostituierten. Aus dieser Folge stammt wohl auch das vorliegende Blatt. – Nur leichter Mittelknick, ein kleines Löchlein (im Fuß des Schwerträgers), links etwas knapp beschnitten, teils mit leichten Randläsuren und Knickspuren. Prächtiger Druck, meist überaus kontrastreich und scharf. – Beliegt ein weiterer Holzschnit von Utagawa Tojokuni (1792-1848). 2-teilig, ca. 18 x 26,5 cm. Ebenfalls unter Glas gerahmt. 29 x 35 cm. - Mit Läsuren und Eckabrieb, Gebrauchsspuren.
