Tiffany & Co. Bronze Figure â€œThe Whistler,â€ WacÅ‚aw Bernard Szczeblewski. An antique late 19th-century French bronze figure titled The Whistler, depicting a boy standing in the act of whistling. Created by Polish artistÂ WacÅ‚aw Bernard Szczeblewski circa 1889, the piece was exhibited at the Paris World Exposition of that year. Finely cast with detailed workmanship, the sculpture stands approximately 15.8 inches in height. This piece is overall in very good condition. This piece was produced by Tiffany & Co. as hallmarked on the pedestal.

Deposée, pfeifender Fischerjunge mit in den Hosentaschen vergrabenen Händen, auf naturalistisch gestalteter Plinthe mit Seetang und Krabbe, kleine Gussfehler, am Hals ein Riss, etwas grünspanig, H 44 cm. Künstlerinfo: eigentlich Wacław Bernard Szczeblewski, polnischer Maler und Bildhauer (1888 Pelplin bis 1965 Gdynia), absolvierte das Collegium Marianum in Pelplin, studierte mit der finanziellen Unterstützung seiner Professoren 1908-1918 an der Königlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Dresden, von wo aus er bedeutende Städte wie London, Paris und Wien bereiste, ab 1920 in Grudziądz ansässig, 1922 Gründung der privaten Pommerschen Kunstschule in den Räumlichkeiten der Stadtbibliothek, unterrichtete jedoch auch bis 1930 Zeichnen und Malen an einem Lehrerseminar, war Mitglied der Jungkaschubischen Bewegung, gehörte zu den Organisatoren des Kaschubischen Vereins, ab 1933 Umzug mit der Schula nach Gdynia, beschickte zahlreiche Ausstellungen und erhielt Preise für seine Arbeiten. Artist information: actually Wacław Bernard Szczeblewski, Polish painter and sculptor (1888 Pelplin - 1965 Gdynia), graduated from the Collegium Marianum in Pelplin, studied with the financial support of his professors 1908-1918 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Dresden, from where he travelled to important cities such as London, Paris and Vienna, from 1920 resident in Grudziądz, 1922 founded the private Pomeranian Art School in the premises of the town library, but also taught drawing and painting at a teacher training college until 1930, was a member of the Young Kashubian Movement, was one of the organisers of the Kashubian Association, from 1933 moved with the school to Gdynia, held numerous exhibitions and received prizes for his work.
