    Attr. Bruce Talbert Aesthetic Movement cabinet.

    Attributed Bruce James Talbert (Scottish, 1838-1881) for Gillow & Co. Aesthetic Movement tall cabinet, circa 1878. Walnut and burlwood with carved foliate decoration and parcel gilt decoration. Upper has central mirror over six drawers flanked by floating glass cabinets with mirror back panels. Lower has two central shelves flanked by an open shelf with mirror back panel over door compartment. Gillow and Co. serial number marked on top edge of one drawer "L 6509." 91" x 66" x 19" Condition: Top section of cornice and open shelf has been removed recently. The top carved frieze of the pediment has lowered. Wear along outside edges. Pull on bottom left door missing. Provenance: A cabinet of the same design unmodified was sold by Sotheby's Auctions in London in 2008.
