George Tinworth (English, 1843-1913) pair of terracotta relief plaques for Doulton Lambeth depicting biblical scenes in high relief, hand sculpted with scripture texts etched into the clay, framed in wood. One panel illustrates Samson throwing down the pillars, referencing Judges 16:30 and Psalm 89:33. The other shows Christ in Gethsemane with angels, inscribed with Luke 22 and Isaiah 53. Both works bear the artist's initials GT and are marked AR 89 on the reverse. Work Size: 8.25 x 8.25 in. Dimensions: 10.25 X 10.25 X 1.5 in. Condition: Good to fair overall condition with typical surface wear and handling marks. Plaques exhibit mild losses to the edges and corners on the back. Haman is shown leading the King's horse, with Mordecai seated on it, through the city street. Onlookers, attracted by Haman's proclamation, appear from all directions displaying reactions of wonder, envy or gladness.
