Betty Tompkins (American, b. 1945) Best known for her photorealist paintings of heterosexual intercourse, Betty Tompkins derives much of her work from pornography. Her first series of "Fuck Paintings" were flagged by French customs officials for their explicit content and withheld from display in 1973; they have since received belated critical acclaim, and one was acquired for the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou/CNAC in Paris. Rendered in soft airbrushed tones, Tompkins's works are large in scale and devoid of narrative content and signifiers. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
