Adolph Treidler 1886-1981 Furness / Queen of Bermuda. Circa 1937. Condition A-: abrasions and minor restoration in image. An elegant couple are enjoying a quiet interlude beneath a starry sky on the deck of the Queen of Bermuda. Passing them is the Queen's sister ship, the Monarch of Bermuda. Completed in 1933, the Queen of Bermuda regularly made the 6 day trip between New York and her island namesake. With passage beginning at $50, this fancy ship, along with her sister, were dubbed the "honeymoon ships." Furness stopped their Bermuda service in 1965.

This is an original stone lithographic print that was created during the Second World War by Adolph Treidler. We see a wounded soldier requiring aid and the viewer is encouraged to buy war bonds to help support soldiers like him. The artist of the poster, Adolph Treidler (1886-1981), studied painting and drawing at the Henri School of Art in New York City. He created various posters for different governmental organizations during WWI, focusing in Liberty Loans posters and manufacturing efforts, particularly of women working in munitions plants. Treidler also worked on posters during WWII, as well as designing for magazines and advertisement. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.

This original World War II poster, titled "My Girl's a WOW", is a compelling piece of home front propaganda created in 1943 by American artist Adolph Treidler (1886-1981). Commissioned by the U.S. Army Ordnance Department, the poster honors and promotes the efforts of Women Ordnance Workers (WOWs)--the women who took on essential roles in the manufacturing of arms, ammunition, and military equipment during the war. In this image, a uniformed soldier proudly holds up a photograph of his sweetheart, who wears the signature polka-dot headscarf of a WOW. The poster's slogan, "My Girl's a WOW," plays on both the acronym and the cultural admiration for women stepping into traditionally male roles with confidence and competence. It served not only to promote the program but to bolster morale and national pride by personalizing the contributions of women to the war effort. Adolph Treidler was one of the leading American illustrators of the early 20th century. This same image and format were used with text advertising Bermuda and the West Indies. Treidler was a prolific illustrator and commercial artist who created numerous propaganda posters for the United States during both World Wars. He worked for the Furness Line from the 1930s onwards, becoming their in-house designer in the 1960s. He did advertisements specifically for the island of Bermuda, separate from the shipping company, and also did work for other ocean liner companies, Wells Fargo, New York Central Lines and international airlines.

An evocative and dramatic nighttime view of the tip of Manhattan seen past the Statue of Liberty. The "city that never sleeps" is depicted full of life and light, as seen in skyscrapers, ferries, tugboats and a spotlight. Treidler's extensive career as a poster designer began during the First World War and carried on through the 1960s, when he was the in-house designer for Furness Cruise Lines. Treidler, "arguably the nation's most outstanding poster artist," considered this image to be one of his two best-known works (Zega p. 68). Original Vintage WWII Care is Costly War Bond Poster by Treidler Large

This is an original stone lithographic print that was created during the Second World War by Adolph Treidler. We see a wounded soldier requiring aid and the viewer is encouraged to buy war bonds to help support soldiers like him. The artist of the poster, Adolph Treidler (1886-1981), studied painting and drawing at the Henri School of Art in New York City. He created various posters for different governmental organizations during WWI, focusing in Liberty Loans posters and manufacturing efforts, particularly of women working in munitions plants. Treidler also worked on posters during WWII, as well as designing for magazines and advertisement. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
